Dear talent acquisition team and hiring manager:

I have experience working in both, surface and underground mining, underground shaft sinking, exploration drilling, helicopter drilling, and industrial industries. I have experience in Supervising Environmental Health and Safety and I have an AAS degree in Occupational Safety and Health.  I have excellent organizational and communication skills and experience in public speaking along with proficiency in computer skills.

I have experience in supervising an environmental health and safety department in which I am responsible for maintaining compliance with all company, state, and federal regulations governing environmental compliance and health and safety compliance.  I have extensive knowledge of federal and state regulations governing industry (MSHA, OSHA, DOT, HAZMAT, NFPA, NEC, UBC, ANSI, EPA, EEOR, and Worker’s Compensation).  I am responsible for maintaining federal and state required records and accompanying federal and state inspectors on inspections. I am responsible for designing and implementing health and safety policies and programs by applying risk management and loss control techniques.  Also, I am responsible for setting company and department safety goals, objectives, and Innovations.

My responsibilities at DMC Mining Services, Salt Lake City UT, at the Rio Tinto Bingham Mine as a Health & Safety Supervisor / Trainer is to ensure the health, safety and well-being for all employees through designing and implementing health and safety systems.  The main scope of work consists of developing and implementing health and safety programs, policies, procedures, training, and perform all industrial hygiene sampling.  I am also responsible for the mine rescue team and am a member of the team as well.  In addition to my responsibilities as a health and safety supervisor, I also fill-in as a crew supervisor and manage the Browz system. We are currently working with 587 days without a loss time injury.

While employed at Connors Drilling LLC out of Montrose CO and Salt Lake City UT as a Health and Safety Coordinator of US Operations I was responsible for the health, safety and well-being for all employees at five operations through designing and implementing health and safety systems.  The main scope of work consisted of exploration core drilling and helicopter drilling at surface and underground mines across the USA and Australia with a specialized supervision on Alaskan operations including Hecla Greens Creek Mine, Coeur d'Alene Kensington Mine, and Red Dog Mine.

Prior to being employed by Connors Drilling I was employed by Blais Industries, Superior Arizona, at the Resolution Copper Mine as a Health and Safety Supervisor and the company logged over 240 days without a lost time injury while I was on site and had an incident rate of 0.00.  Prior to being employed with Blais Industries I was at the ASARCO Ray Mine as a Health and Safety Intern.

I have experience in assisting in designing and implementing training programs for employees.  Examples:  hazard training, new miner training, annual refresher training, employee involvement program, employee incentive programs, team concept program, continuous quality improvement program, back care program, ergonomics program, stretch and flex program, behavioral based safety programs (safestart, safety coordinator rotation, scratch card, DuPont stop, take 5, and s.t.a.r.t.), hearing conservation program, hazard communication program, industrial hygiene sampling program (dust, diesel particulate, noise, air, water, and chemicals), and respiratory protection program.  All these programs along with others contributed in forming our company business and safety culture.  These programs were also instrumental in lowering the company accident incident rate, increasing employee production, and lowering company costs.

I am continually striving to be on the cutting edge of improving or implementing health and safety programs to improve safety performance and to continually review programs for limiting factors that limit safety performance.  I believe that safety programs have to be dynamic in order to succeed and to be able to withstand time and employees have to be willing to except change in order to keep pace with the rest of the industry.  I strive to stay on top of any new or unique safety programs that surface through attending health and safety seminars and workshops, involvement in health and safety professional organizations, taking continuing education courses, reading health and safety books, magazines, and journals, and socializing with other health and safety professionals.

As a Health and Safety Supervisor and a leader I have been responsible for lowering accident incident rates, increasing employee involvement, and raising safety awareness.
